Processor/harvesters have hydraulic booms with specialized harvester heads and come in two main vehicle types: tracked excavators and wheeled harvesters with articulated chassis for maximum maneuverability. Each type has its advantages; tracked excavator-based harvesters have a small footprint, which lets them go where larger vehicles can’t, and their tracks let them navigate difficult terrain with ease. Wheeled harvesters, on the other hand, are incredibly stable thanks to their articulated joints, and spreading the weight of the harvester out among six or even eight wheels dramatically decreases their overall impact on the ecosystem.
