John Deere has announced a new trio of backhoe attachments suitable for use on its G-Series skid steers and compact track loaders. The new BH9B, BH10B, and BH11B backhoes provide 180-degree operation and swing speed control, and are compatible with Deere’s Quik-Tatch attachment system.

“With the growing need for work in compact spaces, these new backhoe attachments provide contractors, landscapers, and agricultural material handlers with the power and variety to tackle any job efficiently and swiftly,” says John Deere Construction and Forestry attachments engineering supervisor Jason Simmons.

    Power & Reach

The junior member of the trio, the BH9B, has a maximum digging depth of 110 inches (2.8 meters). Its breakout force is 3,895 pounds (1,765 kilograms), and the reach from its swing pivot is 146 inches (3.7 meters).

The next model up, the BH10B, comes with a maximum dig depth of 116 inches (2.95 meters) and a 153-inch (3.9-meter) reach. The BH11B, being the biggest of the group, can dig down to 133 inches (3.4 meters) and reach out to 173 inches (4.4 meters).

The BH10B and BH11B both have a breakout force of 5,675 pounds (2,575 kilograms). Their buckets give you three linkage position options, each of which is optimized for curl, reach, or breakout force.

    Bucket Operation

The new Deere backhoes dampen shock loads and smooth out motion with their cushioned cylinders. They have a hydraulic flow range of nine to 12 gallons per minute (34 to 45 liters per minute).

In operation, you use the left lever to control the boom or swing and the right lever to actuate the dipperstick or bucket. Visibility is excellent around the attachments’ low profiles, the company says.

The bucket widths for the new backhoes range from 18 inches (457 millimeters) to 36 inches (914 millimeters). The buckets have also been updated to make them easier to clean.

    Versatility By Design

“The new lineup of backhoe attachments is designed to provide power with improved hydraulics and sleek design to operators working across different job sites and applications,” Simmons says.
