    About Scrapers

Scrapers are used to shave off layers of soil, which are then forced into a hopper that can be unloaded in a designated area once full. These machines are commonly used in construction to prepare the ground for building a structure or in mining, farming, and other trades where you need to remove dirt and other materials while also making a flat surface. Whether you go with a motor or pull-type scraper, you typically have the option of using a single scraper or linking several of them together in order to move more earth per pass.

    Motor & Pull Scrapers

Motor scrapers, which are sometimes referred to as “wheel tractor-scrapers,” combine the scraper mechanism and the vehicle into one machine. Older models typically come in an elevating configuration where a paddle wheel and conveyor scrapes the ground and lifts dirt, rocks, and other materials into the bowl. However, most current motor scrapers have hydraulic bowls that further motorize some of that work. There are also push-pull models that allow you to push or pull another scraper.

Pull-behind or pan scrapers perform the same work as motorized models but require a separate vehicle, like a tractor, to pull them along the surface. Like motor scrapers, they can be used as a standalone machine or can be linked with other scrapers to cover more ground in a single pass.

    Common Manufacturers

Some of the most popular brands in this category include Ashland, Caterpillar, Deere, K-Tec, Reynolds, and Terex, just to name a few examples. Whether you’re interested in a motor scraper or pull-type scraper, you’ll find hundreds of new and used scrapers for sale at MachineryTrader.com.
