    About Scissor Lifts

Scissor lifts are a type of mobile aerial work platform named after the crisscrossing braces they use to raise and lower workers, tools, and other materials on a platform, generally to maximum working heights ranging from 20 to 70 feet (6 to 21 meters) straight up and down.

Genie GS-4069 DC Rough-Terrain Scissor Lift

Scissor lifts are commonly used in construction, factory, warehouse, retail, and many other settings to perform maintenance, cleaning, building, installation, inventory, and other tasks. Compared to boom lifts, scissor lifts are generally more affordable, have larger platforms, and support heavier lift capacities, with some models exceeding 1,000 pounds (454 kilograms). They can often accommodate two to four or more workers simultaneously. Boom lifts tend to have higher max working heights, though, and can be a little easier to maneuver around jobsites with rough terrain.

    Types Of Scissor Lifts

Both electric- and engine-powered (gas, diesel, and hybrid) scissor lifts are available. Engine-powered models, such as JLG’s LRT and MRT Series, generally offer greater lifting capacity. Electric models, such as Skyjack’s SJIII 4740, are considered better options for indoor use when noise and emissions are issues. Elsewhere, Genie has four-wheel-drive, rough-terrain models, including the GS-4069 DC, that are designed for use by construction crews and have a patented full-time oscillating axle that automatically adjusts its position to fit ground conditions.
