    About Cedarapids

Cedarapids equipment is designed to handle various materials, such as aggregates, minerals, ores, and recycled materials. For over 100 years, the company has manufactured crushing and screening equipment for the mining and construction industries.

Cedarapids CRH1313R Portable Crusher & Screen

Through the years, Iowa Manufacturing Co. expanded its product line through in-house development and acquisitions. The company was among the first manufacturers to build hot mix asphalt plants and all-electric vibratory screeds for asphalt pavers.

    Cedarapids History

In 1923, Howard Hall and John Jay founded Iowa Manufacturing Co. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Seeing the increase in automobile production, the pair began to develop road construction equipment. The company built the first portable aggregate plant, which crushed stone at the construction site. This innovation replaced several pieces of equipment by combining crushing, conveying, and screening into one machine.

During World War II, Iowa Manufacturing’s equipment was sent around the world to build roads and landing strips for the military. Five years after the end of the war, the company expanded its crusher product line through the acquisition of impact crusher manufacturer New Holland Equipment, which had been in business since 1912.

Following the death of founder Howard Hall, Iowa Manufacturing was sold to Raytheon Co. in 1972. Soon after, the company acquired El-Jay. Iowa Manufacturing Co. officially changed its name to Cedarapids in 1985. Four years later, Cedarapids acquired Standard Havens.

Terex acquired the company in 1999 and, 10 years later, combined the Cedarapids, Simplicity, Canica, and Jaques brands into a single crushing and screening product line called Terex Minerals Processing Systems.

    Cedarapids Product Range

Though Terex merged Cedarapids with other crushing and screening brands, Terex still offers Cedarapids-branded equipment for sale, including modular, portable, and static crushers and screens.

Designed with the user in mind, Cedarapids jaw crushers feature the brand’s renowned jaw chamber for optimal performance and reliability. Some jaw crusher models, such as the portable CRJ3042, combine the jaw crusher with a high stroke, vibration grizzly feeder.

Cedarapids cone crushers have hydraulic iron relief, automation, and telematic systems. Models like the CRC450 are all-electric, producing zero emissions and boasting energy efficiency. Cedarapids Horizontal Shaft Impactors, like the TI4143 model, process a high volume of material, provide control over particle shape and size, and accept nearly any material.

Cedarapids has many styles of screens to fit any application. The screening range combines the El-Jay oval stroke with optional features such as horizontal screens, triple shafts, and a range of discharge choices.
