Water trailers consist of a tank on a platform, typically with two to four wheels, and they include pumps, valves, hoses, nozzles, and other components necessary for spraying water. Road construction crews also use them to aid in the soil compaction process, creating a smoother surface for laying down asphalt. Because they are so portable, you can also tow water trailers to chicken coops, stables, and other buildings on the farm and essentially use them as power washers.

Some operations also use water trailers for emergency firefighting purposes, especially if they are in remote areas without nearby fire crews, and to preemptively prevent fires by wetting down dry grass and other potential flammable hazards. Water trailers can also provide potable drinking water to workers. In this instance, you’ll want to make sure you buy a trailer with a food-grade tank that meets FDA standards, and clean the tank out properly in between uses.
