    About Skip Loaders

    Deere 210L Skip Loader

Of all the many pieces of equipment at work around the world today, there may be none as versatile as the skip loader. You’ll find these compact but highly useful vehicles at work on residential and commercial building sites, with road construction crews, on farms of all sizes, and just about anywhere else there are multiple things that need to be moved, loaded, dug, or graded.

    Characteristics & Weight

Skip loaders, also referred to as “tractor loaders,” “front loaders,” or “industrial loaders,” are small-to-mid-sized tractors with a hydraulic bucket loader attached to the front and a box blade in the rear. They are used in landscaping and construction projects, farms, and more to pick up and move materials, and with their compact size can maneuver in tight spaces larger machines cannot. Some models can trade out the rear box blade for other attachments such as mowers, brooms, or disks. The front bucket loader, controlled by arms that extend from behind the loader, can also often be swapped for attachments like a snowplow, lift forks, or a bale spear. The machines range in operating weight from around 9,000 to 14,000 pounds (4,082 to 6,350 kilograms) and have lift capacities from 5,000 to over 7,000 lbs (2,268 to more than 3,175 kg) and between 60 and 85 horsepower (44.7 and 63.4 kilowatts).
