Read More (About Metso)Finland’s Metso manufactures heavy machinery and industrial solutions for the aggregates, mining, and metals refining industries. Its product lines include aggregate equipment, crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, and stackers. The corporation sells some of the largest equipment in these markets and makes some of the smallest components that keep those machines up and running.
Metso constantly innovates to make its solutions more efficient and profitable for its customers, as well as more sustainable. The company also provides services and technologies for these market segments as well as for the recycling, oil and gas, industrial filtration, and energy industries.
Metso manufactures both mobile and stationary machinery for various purposes. Some of its portable product lines include Lokotrack tracked mobile crushers and screens, Nordwheeler wheeled crushing and screening plants with high-output NW Rapid versions, and Nordtrack mobile crushers, screens, and stacking conveyors. Use cases for Nordtrack products, for example, include asphalt recycling, concrete demolition, small-scale aggregate production, and the screening of organic materials such as topsoil and wood.
Different mining and aggregate applications require different approaches, so Metso sells jaw crushers, impact crushers, cone crushers, grinding rolls, and various mining screens, chutes, and feeders. Other products sold under the Metso banner are stirred mills, filters, dewaterers, horizontal and vertical slurry pumps, furnaces and kilns, and air classifiers.
Metso Corporation was founded in 1999 in Helsinki, Finland, and reforged in 2020 with a merger between industrial machinery company Metso Minerals and technology and services firm Outotec. However, the company’s roots in Helsinki go back as early as the 1750s, and at least four entities it would eventually own were started from 1865 to 1895 in Sweden, France, and the U.S.
Metso forerunner Rauma acquired aggregate equipment manufacturer Nordberg and forestry equipment company Timberjack in 1989. Metso sold Timberjack to Deere & Company in April 2000. By the mid-2020s, Metso employed more than 17,000 people in nearly 50 countries. The company had 5.4 billion euros in sales in 2023.
