ASV History

Edgar Hetteen and Gary Lemke, two forerunners of the snowmobile industry, founded ASV in 1983. The pair developed the Track Truck, a rubber-tracked, pickup-size vehicle that delivers less ground pressure than a person.

The company introduced the first Posi-Track rubber track loader in 1990. The versatile machine met needs in the construction, agricultural, and landscaping industries. Five years later, the company relocated from Marcell to its current location in Grand Rapids.

ASV began manufacturing rubber track undercarriages for Caterpillar’s line of compact equipment in 1998, an agreement that continues today. In September 2019, ASV merged with the compact equipment division of Yanmar Group, building upon its extensive range of wheel and track skid steers.

ASV Product Range

ASV has expanded its line of skid steers over the years. Focusing exclusively on compact equipment, ASV utilizes designs that work in all seasons and deliver maximum power and torque.

ASV’s track loaders deliver optimal performance on construction, forestry, and landscaping jobsites and for snow removal. The redesigned Max-Series loaders, including the RT-25, RT-30, and VT-70, feature the manufacturer’s Posi-Track undercarriage, which creates minimal ground pressure with reduced wear and tear for maximum productivity.

The RS-75 radial skid steer loader offers advanced excavation capabilities, while the VS-75 skid steers have more reach and greater lift height. ASV’s Max-Series skid steers are built with 360-degree visibility and maximum operator comfort.
