Germany-based Vögele manufactures asphalt road pavers, screeds, and feeders. With a history dating back to 1836, it’s one of the oldest construction equipment manufacturers. Hamm (rollers and compactors), Kleemann (mobile crushers and screening plants), and Benninghoven (asphalt mixing plants) are also current members of the Wirtgen Group, and together the company handles all aspects of road building from start to finish. In 2017, Deere & Co. (makers of John Deere equipment) purchased Wirtgen Group for $5.2 billion, stating that it intends to retain each of Wirtgen Group’s brands, as well as the existing infrastructure, management, and distribution network.
