Kubota’s History

Gonshiro Kubota founded the company now known as Kubota in 1890 as a foundry in Osaka, Japan. In 1922, Kubota began producing oil-based engines for agriculture machines. By 2002, industrial engine production had surpassed 20 million units.

In 1953, Kubota established the Kubota Construction Machinery Co. and started producing power shovels and other construction equipment. In 1974, the company unveiled the KH1, a fully rotating mini backhoe that became its base machine. Kubota established a new construction machinery division in 1979 and introduced the KH-10 Series of compact excavators.

World Leader In Mini Excavators

In 2024, Kubota claimed to be the world’s leading seller of mini excavators for 22 consecutive years. Contributors to that ongoing success include machine durability, superior performance, and easy maintenance. The Kubota U Series mini excavator range comprises models with engine power ratings ranging from roughly 10 to 47 horsepower (7.5 to 35 kilowatts).
