Ingersoll Rand manufactures air compressor systems, power tools, pumps, and handling systems for numerous industries. The company’s U.S. headquarters are in Davidson, North Carolina, and its corporate headquarters are in Dublin, Ireland. Today, Ingersoll Rand has operations in 51 plants globally.

The history of Ingersoll Rand dates to 1871, with the formation of the Ingersoll Rock Drill Company, and 1872, when the Rand & Waring Drill & Compressor Company was formed. Ingersoll Rand came into being in 1905 following the merger of Ingersoll-Sergeant Drill Company (which itself had been formed by yet another merger involving the Ingersoll Rock Drill Company) and the Rand Drill Company.

In 1995, Ingersoll Rand acquired the Clark Equipment Company, along with the Bobcat brand, which Ingersoll Rand sold to Doosan in 2007. Also in 2007, Ingersoll Rand acquired Trane.

Beyond Trane, Ingersoll Rand’s other brands include Club Car, Ingersoll Rand, Thermo King, American Standard, and ARO. The Ingersoll Rand product lineup include hoists, winches, ratchets, grinders, cutting tools, drills, hammers, riveting tools, screwdrivers, and calibration equipment. Construction-specific tools include backfill tampers/sand rammers, chipping hammers, diggers, jackhammers/rock drills, large drills, pavement breakers, rivet busters, and spike drivers.
