Caterpillar’s Cat Connect platform consists of a series of technologies and services designed to make construction operations more efficient, cost-effective, and safe. Cat Connect includes solutions that help you monitor every piece of equipment on a jobsite, others that automate elements of the grading process, and many others. All of these technologies work together to make even the largest jobs more manageable.

    Cat Connect Services

Cat Connect’s suite of services cover equipment management, productivity, and safety. Equipment management services include asset tracking, equipment inspections, maintenance and repair execution, asset condition monitoring, and more. For productivity, Cat Connect offers several beneficial features, including geospatial mapping of a jobsite, operator and site efficiency training services, productivity monitoring and management, and equipment utilization reporting. Caterpillar’s platform also puts an emphasis on safety with sleep profile reporting, fatigue schedule analysis and fatigue risk assessments, operator monitoring, and safety culture programs.

    Telematics

Cat Link is a telematics technology that serves as something of a backbone for Cat Connect and offers a range of subscription options to fit operations of all sizes. One example of an available data subscription is Cat Essentials, which offers hourly asset reports, hourly asset location updates, engine on and off alerts, diagnostic fault code notifications, information about machine operating hours and fuel consumption, and more.

At its core, Cat Link is about tracking every machine on a jobsite, ensuring every aspect of the operation is running smoothly, and making sure operators are being as productive as possible. It uses Product Link hardware to gather information from the machines and the VisionLink web interface serves as an analytics platform to gain valuable insights. You can then use those insights to improve efficiency and productivity while also being proactive about maintenance and repairs to cut down on unexpected costs and downtime.

    Cat Command & Cat Detect

Cat Command offers two powerful solutions for remotely controlling equipment: the line-of-sight controller, which is an over-the-shoulder console that lets you run machinery that you can see in person, and the remote operating station, which lets you control a machine from a virtual cab complete with video and audio. Caterpillar says this can improve operator safety by putting them into a more controlled environment. To improve safety across the entire construction site, Cat Detect offers camera systems, RFID tags for keeping track of workers, machine security systems with electronic keys or passwords, and object detection systems for preventing machines from running into obstacles.

    Automation & Precision

Rounding out the Cat Connect technology offerings are Cat Grade, Cat Payload, and Cat Compact, all of which use real-time measuring and varying levels of automation to improve operator accuracy. You can use Cat Grade with such machines as dozers, excavators, skid steers, and crawler loaders to automate certain aspects of the grading process to achieve the desired grade with no wasted effort.

Cat Compact performs a similar function but is designed specifically for equipment like asphalt, landfill, and soil and aggregate compactors. Cat Payload delivers mobile load weighing to prevent under- or overloading with information available via in-cab displays. It also offers a reporting function with data about production, fuel consumption, and more.

    Theirs & Ours

Cat Connect services and technologies are compatible with Caterpillar equipment as well as many third-party machines. If you’re in the market for assets that can take advantage of these solutions, you’ll find a large selection of new and used Caterpillar construction equipment for sale at MachineryTrader.com.
